JOHOR BARU: The RTS Link Johor Baru-Singapore project reached a critical milestone as Train Set 02 became the first unit to be successfully positioned at the Wadi Hana Depot for testing and commissioning.<\/p>\n
The four-car train set departed the CRRC Rolling Stock Centre in Batu Gajah, Perak, on Nov 12 and completed its 541km journey at approximately 70km\/h, arriving at the depot at midnight yesterday.<\/p>\n
RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO) chief executive officer Dr Ahmad Marzuki Ariffin said the entire transport operation was meticulously planned, taking into account safety, traffic and weather factors.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe delivery of this train marks the project\u2019s transition into the pre-operational phase, involving various system tests and integration activities to ensure the train and its infrastructure function flawlessly and comply with safety standards,\u201d he told Bernama yesterday.<\/p>\n
He said a total of eight train sets, each comprising four coaches, will eventually operate the RTS Link service connecting Johor Baru and Singapore.<\/p>\n
In the first stage, four train sets will be delivered and based at the Wadi Hana Depot, which serves as the central maintenance facility and operational hub.<\/p>\n
The remaining four sets are scheduled to arrive in phases by December.<\/p>\n
The four-kilometre RTS project, linking Bukit Chagar in Johor Baru to Woodlands North in Singapore, is expected to be completed in December 2026.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
