{"id":12227,"date":"2025-11-17T13:20:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T05:20:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=12227"},"modified":"2025-11-17T13:20:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T05:20:57","slug":"heavy-traffic-expected-at-singapores-land-checkpoints-during-year-end-school-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=12227","title":{"rendered":"Heavy traffic expected at Singapore&#8217;s land checkpoints during year-end school holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Heavy traffic is expected at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints over the year-end school holidays from Nov 21 to Jan 1.<\/p>\n<p>Travellers can expect longer waiting times to clear immigration, especially as authorities intensify checks against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/vapes-seized-fines-checkpoints-enforcement-singapore-malaysia-ica-5334741\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>smuggling of e-vaporisers<\/span><\/a>, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said on Monday (Nov 17).<\/p>\n<p>ICA advised people to check <span>traffic conditions at the land checkpoints before embarking on their journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Those who need to travel during this peak period can consider taking the cross-border bus services to avoid congestion,&#8221; it added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Travellers are also encouraged to use QR codes generated from the MyICA mobile app for more convenient passport-less immigration clearance. Passports are, however, still required when travelling overseas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/heavy-traffic-expected-singapore-malaysia-land-checkpoints-deepavali-long-weekend-ica-5397911\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deepavali long weekend<\/a> from Oct 17 to Oct 20, nearly two million travellers crossed the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p>Traveller volume peaked on Oct 17, with over 550,000 people clearing immigration through the land checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p>Car travellers who departed during peak hours had to wait up to three hours for immigration clearance due to traffic tailbacks from Malaysia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/heavy-traffic-woodlands-tuas-land-checkpoints-year-end-school-holidays-5471391\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article At Source <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SINGAPORE: Heavy traffic is expected at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints over the year-end school holidays from Nov 21 to Jan 1.
