SINGAPORE – Two people were trapped in their vehicles after a six-vehicle chain collision in Sembawang on the morning of Nov 14.<\/p>\n
The police said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Admiralty Road East and Deptford Road at around 6.50am. <\/p>\n
The accident involved a motorcycle, a car, a van and three lorries. <\/p>\n
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the drivers of a lorry and a van were found trapped in their seats, and were rescued using hydraulic rescue equipment.<\/p>\n
Four people \u2013 a 56-year-old male motorcyclist, a 38-year-old male van driver, a 71-year-old lorry driver and his 42-year-old male passenger\u00a0\u2013 were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, said the police and SCDF. <\/p>\n
Police investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
In a video of the accident posted to Facebook page Roads.sg, a van is seen moving at a high speed towards vehicles that are coming to a stop at a traffic-light junction. <\/p>\n
The van then crashes into the back of two lorries consecutively, pushing the two vehicles out of the lane they were travelling in. <\/p>\n
The first lorry is seen swerving and hitting another lorry, a car and a motorcycle before coming to a stop at the road divider. The motorcyclist is knocked off his vehicle, and is later helped up by a car driver. <\/p>\n
In another video showing the aftermath of the accident, posted to Facebook by the SGRV page, SCDF personnel are seen at the scene. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
