SINGAPORE \u2013 A 27-year-old motorcyclist died after an accident with a car on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Nov 10. <\/p>\n
The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted at around 10.20am. <\/p>\n
The accident, which involved a car and a motorcycle, occurred on the PIE towards Changi Airport after the Lorong 6 Toa Payoh exit.<\/p>\n
The motorcyclist was unconscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he subsequently died, the authorities said.<\/p>\n
The police have arrested a 31-year-old car driver for driving without reasonable consideration and causing death. <\/p>\n
Police investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
The Nov 10 accident is the third reported fatal accident in two months involving a motorcyclist on the PIE. <\/p>\n
On Sept 9, a <\/p>\n 36-year-old motorcyclist died following an accident<\/p>\n <\/a> involving two motorcycles on the PIE. <\/p>\n A month later, another <\/p>\n motorcyclist died after a collision<\/p>\n <\/a> with an SBS Transit bus on the expressway.<\/p>\n The number of people killed and injured in traffic accidents\u00a0<\/p>\n hit a five-year high in 2024<\/p>\n <\/a>. Traffic accidents killed 139 people in 2024, up from the 131 in 2023, according to statistics released by the Traffic Police. <\/p>\n In the first half of 2025 alone, <\/p>\n 78 fatal accidents were recorded<\/p>\n <\/a>, compared with 70 in the same period the year before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
