Photo from Foreign Ministry\/Facebook<\/small>\n <\/p>\n PHNOM PENH \u2013 Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will travel to Singapore from November 12 to 13 for an official visit, his first to the country since 2018. The trip highlights the enduring friendship and expanding cooperation between the two nations.<\/strong><\/p>\n The visit comes at the invitation of Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and reflects the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen their partnership in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n Sokhonn, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, is scheduled to meet Singaporean Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong for a courtesy call. During his two-day stay, he will also hold discussions with Foreign Minister Balakrishnan to deepen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for collaboration across multiple sectors.<\/p>\n This visit carries special significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Singapore.<\/p>\n During his previous visit from August 29 to 31, 2018<\/a>, Sokhonn met with then-Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and expressed satisfaction with Cambodia\u2019s ongoing peace and development. On July this year, Prime Minister Wong visited Cambodia for the first time in his current role.<\/a> During that visit, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation.<\/p>\n The two countries praised their achievements in joint initiatives and agreed to expand collaboration in key areas, including trade, investment, finance, defense and security, energy, food security, vocational training, and people-to-people exchanges.<\/p>\n Cambodia and Singapore first established diplomatic relations on August 10, 1965<\/a>, just one day after Singapore declared independence. Under King Father Norodom Sihanouk, Cambodia was among the first nations to recognize the new state.<\/p>\n Relations were suspended in 1975 during the Khmer Rouge regime, but were officially restored on January 18, 1992.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
