Bloomberg has revealed new details about a potential Apple-Google deal to use a custom Gemini model to power Siri. <\/p>\n

The deal could see Apple paying Google $1 billion a year<\/b> to power Siri with the latter\u2019s 1.2 trillion parameter-Gemini model. For comparison, Apple\u2019s own cloud-based model has 150 billion parameters, while the on-device model, designed for local processing, has just three billion.<\/p>\n

The report indicates that the custom Gemini model will manage Siri\u2019s summariser<\/b> and planner functions,<\/b> while Apple\u2019s in-house models will handle other features. As the Gemini model runs on Apple\u2019s Private Cloud Compute servers, user data is not shared with Google<\/b>. This is a significant distinction between Apple\u2019s privacy-first stance on AI and the competition.<\/p>\n

The partnership is unlikely to be long-term as Apple continues to work on its cloud-based AI mode<\/b>l. It aims to release a one-trillion-parameter model as soon as next year. The \u201cmore personalised Siri\u201d powered by Gemini is on track to launch by spring 2026.<\/p>\n
