When Newbeat first stormed onto the scene earlier this year with Raw and Rad<\/em>, the seven-member boy band positioned itself as a blend of hip-hop swagger and unfiltered drive.<\/p>\n Eight months later, the act \u2013 Minseok, Minsung, Yeoyeojeong, Seohyun, Taeyang, Yunhoo and Riwoo \u2013 is turning that energy outward. The group\u2019s first mini-album Louder Than Ever<\/em> marks a bold turn \u2013 four tracks, two title songs and lyrics sung almost entirely in English.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s our way of saying we\u2019re ready for the world,\u201d said Minseok, the group\u2019s leader. \u201cDuring the eight-month break, we thought a lot about our fans and about how to show something [that is] new to everyone, not just in Korea. We sharpened ourselves for this comeback.\u201d<\/p>\n The record\u2019s twin singles, \u201cLook So Good\u201d and \u201cLoud\u201d, reveal two sides of the same coin. The former revisits early-2000s pop-R&B with slick retro polish, while \u201cLoud\u201d crashes forward with bass-house pulse and rock-infused hyperpop bravado.<\/p>\n Both orbit around the same message: \u201cloving yourself loudly\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe tried old-school hip-hop before, but this time, in \u2018Look So Good\u2019, it\u2019s retro pop, which feels cleaner, smoother,\u201d Minseok said. \u201cMeanwhile, \u2018Loud\u2019 connects back to the first album, carrying the same spirit but with even more energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
