Mano Thangaraj on Sunday said countries\u00a0such as Singapore should explore the feasibility\u00a0of collaborating\u00a0on medical tourism in districts such as Kanniyakumari that have the potential to attract international\u00a0patients. <\/p>\n
Inaugurating a health awareness event, \u2018Caring for Your Health\u2019, organised by SingHealth, Singapore\u2019s leading public healthcare institution, in partnership with Glosel, Mr. Thangaraj said: \u201cThere is a steady flow of international patients coming to Kerala and parts of Kanniyakumari\u00a0for medical care. We can think of affordable medical care for patients coming from abroad. There are so many possibilities\u00a0for us to work together. We are here to help you in whatever way you want.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cTamil Nadu has always led the way in public health initiatives. Collaborations like these not only strengthen our healthcare ecosystem but also inspire people to take charge of their health through awareness and early intervention,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Edgar Pang Tze Chiang, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore said: \u201cSingapore and India have long shared a strong relationship in healthcare and education. Events such as these foster greater professional exchange, research collaboration, and, most importantly, people-to-people engagement that benefits communities on both sides.\u201d <\/p>\n
Stressing the need for health and medical collaboration, Mr. Chiang said: \u201cThe Tamil Nadu government has been a strong supporter of Singapore initiatives, collaborations and projects in Tamil Nadu. We have exceptionally good relations with Tamil\u00a0Nadu. These are very, very, strong cultural, political and historical ties. We are quite well invested in many areas in the\u00a0State. We want to do more with Tamil Nadu. We are also always\u00a0expanding collaborations in different fields.\u201d\u00a0he said. <\/p>\n
At the event, healthcare professionals and dignitaries from Singapore and Tamil Nadu highlighted the importance of preventive care, community awareness, and holistic well-being. Over 60 doctors representing leading hospitals across Chennai, spanning various specialties including paediatrics, gynaecology, family medicine, internal medicine, and preventive healthcare participated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Interactive sessions were led by visiting doctors from Singapore\u2019s SingHealth cluster including Dr. Shephali Tagore, Senior Consultant, KK Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Hospital; Dr. Ng Chung Wai, Mark, Senior Consultant, SingHealth Polyclinics; and Adjunct Assistant Professor Dr. Chonkar Sonali Prashant, Senior Staff Physician, KK Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Hospital. The talks focused on family and women\u2019s health, preventive screening, maternal care, and the evolving role of family physicians in improving community health outcomes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
