SINGAPORE \u2013 A 29-year-old male motorist was arrested on Nov 9 after an accident involving two 83-year-old female pedestrians, one of whom later died in hospital.<\/p>\n
In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and two pedestrians \u2013 both 83-year-old women \u2013 in Teck Whye Lane, Choa Chu Kang, at about 2.50pm.<\/p>\n
A 29-year-old man was arrested for driving without due care and attention under the influence of intoxicating substances, causing death, the police added.<\/p>\n
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said two people were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. <\/p>\n
One woman was conscious when she was taken there while the other woman was unconscious on the way to the hospital, where she later died. <\/p>\n
E-vaporisers were found in the man\u2019s car, the police said, adding that the issue has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority.<\/p>\n
A 13-minute video clip put up on citizen journalism portal Stomp captured the aftermath of the accident. In the video, a grey car appears to have partially mounted the kerb next to Block 25 Teck Whye Lane. It also appears to have hit a tree.<\/p>\n
Passers-by are seen attending to the injured women before the arrival of SCDF paramedics, who can be seen performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on one of the victims.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
