A driver was allegedly dazed and holding a vape as his car slowly braked to a stop in the middle of an intersection along Punggol Way near Samudera LRT station on Nov 5, according to Shin Min Daily News<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n Mr Xu (transliteration), 54, an engineer, told the newspaper he was driving home with his son after exercising when he noticed the car ahead moving unusually.<\/p>\n “The car was moving very slowly and kept braking. I thought the driver might be unwell, so I decided to stop and check,” he said.<\/p>\n “The car eventually stopped at the junction. We thought the driver might be having a heart attack, so we rushed over to help.”<\/p>\n Mr Xu told Shin Min Daily News that the driver appeared dazed, staring blankly while puffing on a vape.<\/p>\n “We tried asking him to wind down the window and open the door, but he just stared blankly at us while puffing on the vape, as if he couldn’t control himself,” he said.<\/p>\n According to Mr Xu, some members of the public alleged the driver may have been using Kpods, vape pods that contain synthetic drugs such as etomidate, although this has not been confirmed.<\/p>\n “If he had continued driving after vaping, he could have caused an accident and endangered other road users. Everyone was just relieved nothing serious happened,” he said.<\/p>\n Stomp has contacted the Health Sciences Authority for comment.<\/p>\n
